Susan Hewitt

Susan Hewitt is a developer, manager, and investor in the New York real estate market. She founded The Cheshire Group in 1993 and built the firm into a leading real estate investment and consulting firm that specializes in revitalizing underperforming properties and developing value-add opportunities.

 With more than 25 years of experience, Susan is an expert in the New York residential market, from the management of free market and regulated rentals, to coop and condominium conversions. She has transformed commercial buildings into residential and office use, negotiated workouts and debt restructurings, and led complex project entitlements.   

 A member of the Real Estate Board of New York, Susan is a past president of the Association of Real Estate Women and a past Chair of Habitat for Humanity-NYC. She is a Board Co-Chair (Churchwarden) of Trinity Church Wall Street and a former Trustee of the Grace Church School in New York City and The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, NY.

 Susan holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an AB in Economics from Harvard College. She is a licensed real estate broker in New York.

Jenifer Steig

Jenifer Steig has a passion for understanding how the built environment affects behavior. With a diverse background in design, behavioral psychology, project management, investment, marketing and market strategy, Jenifer brings unique value to The Cheshire Group’s developments and clients.

 Since joining The Cheshire Group in 1995, Jenifer’s marketing strategies have positioned the firm’s portfolio for success in both strong and weak markets. Jenifer has a deep understanding of how to market, sell and reposition properties in the most economically challenged environments, having entered the real estate industry during an economic downturn.

Jenifer is an active community volunteer in Maplewood, NJ. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the Maplewood Memorial Library Foundation, embarking on a capital campaign for a state-of-the-art and LEED certified $22 Million endeavor. She is past president of the Achieve Foundation of South Orange and Maplewood, NJ, an educational foundation serving the public school district. Previously, Jenifer served on the Board of Trustees for the Jewish Community Housing Corp. of Metropolitan New Jersey, the Zoning Board of Adjustment for the Township of Maplewood, and the Maplewood Village Alliance. 

 Jenifer holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BS in Design and Environmental Analysis from Cornell University. She is a licensed real estate broker in New York and New Jersey.
